Macklemore + Ryan Lewis Concert Tonight!

Tonight one of the biggest concerts to hit Fort Collins this year will be happening on the campus intramural fields at Colorado State University. Ram Fest 2013 has attracted one of the biggest names in the musical industry right now, Macklemore + Ryan Lewis. Tickets for their shows have been going for as much as $250 a pop anywhere in the country. Tickets for this show went on sale on July 10th and sold out in a matter of hours. Students had the luxury of paying $10 and community members $35. Tickets are certainly a hot commodity for tonight’s show and are seen for high dollar prices online.

We are happy to have a media pass again for tonight’s show! We shot Macklemore back in December when he and Ryan Lewis came to the Aggie Theater and sold it out. This time we will be IN FRONT of the barrier and might get stage access during the first 3 songs.

Check back here later tonight for more photos of this great event!

Also, Tour de Fat is going on tomorrow and will be the reason why the downtown area will be shut off to traffic for the 3rd weekend in a row! So many fun events going on this time of the year, stop on back for pictures and stories of it all!

Everything You Need to Know! (Bohemian Nights at NewWestFest 2013)

Well, it’s that time of the year again: the weekends are jam-packed with a variety of outdoor activities, the sun still goes down after 8, the temps are cooling off just a tad, and the biggest musical festival in Northern Colorado is just a few days away!

Bohemian Nights at NewWestFest started 25 years ago this weekend, as a way to celebrate the birth of this great city we call Fort Collins. Bohemian Nights was also a festival to put Fort Collins on the map, literally. The Fort Collins Chamber of Commerce wanted Fort Collins to be a bigger dot on the maps Rand McNally was making. Also, all the signs North of Denver just said, Cheyenne __ miles. The original idea for Bohemian Nights at NewWestFest was called, “Big Dot Days”. While it had the right idea, it didn’t have the allure that it needed from the committee members of the Chamber. So local designer, Richard Askew, came up with the name, “NewWestFest”, and it stuck a little better with the Chamber of Commerce members.

NewWestFest was really popular from the get-go, as it brought together all things local. And so, a festival was born…

Here is a great quote from Downtown Business Association Executive Director (and director of first two NewWestFest Events), Maggie Kuntz, ““The festival has grown as Fort Collins has,” she said. “A true expression of our Fort Collins personality, this event celebrates our artists, businesses, craft beer scene and, most prominently, our Colorado musicians. With the help of Bohemian Nights, NewWestFest has been able to stand the test of time and put Fort Collins on the map, as the originators had hoped. We’re a big dot now.” [Quote from the Coloradoan]

In order to stay up to date with all the fantastic musicians playing this weekend, here is a schedule of the 2013 Lineup and 2013 Festival Map.

Larimer County Fair and Rodeo

Larimer County Fair

The 2013 Larimer County Fair and Rodeo was held at The Ranch in Loveland, CO from August 2nd through August 6th.  My brother and his wife recently moved to Colorado from southern California, so this was the first year that we attended the fair with family.  Whether you go to the fair with family or friends, it’s always a good time.  Parking and entrance are free, but as always we expect to spend some money on ride tickets, carnival games, and fried food.  The kids enjoyed the games, rides, and animals, especially the horses and pigs.  Some of the main attractions included the Splash Dogs competitions, the 5th Annual Gnarly Barley Brew Festival at the Budweiser Events Center, evening movies, and fireworks.  Click here for the schedule of events: http://www.larimercountyfair.org/schedule.html.

Here are some pictures from the fairgrounds on Sunday, August 4th.  All smiles!
